When he's not working as a designer, former Lycos travel columnist Erik R. Trinidad is a freelance travel writer whose work has been seen in the New York Post, Chicago Tribune, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, Pilot Guides' GlobeTrekkerTV.com, UK-based Travelmag, and BootsnAll.com. His short story "Disbelief of Wonder" appears in the best-of-travel-humor anthology, Hyenas Laughed at Me and Now I Know Why, which also includes the work of Tim Cahill, Doug Lansky, Jennifer L. Leo and Rolf Potts. His critically-acclaimed daily travel Blog of his sixteen-month trip around the world has received over 65,000 unique hits from an international audience, and has been recommended by RickSteves.com and USA Today. In Spring 2005, it was selected by the editors of PC Magazine as one of the year's "Top 100 Sites You Didn't Know You Couldn't Live Without", in the travel category.

In his never-ending quest for adventure (and writing material), the baby-faced thirty-one-year-old has traveled around the world twice thus far, the first time (1999-2003) experiencing the seven continents two weeks at a time, during company-paid vacation time. After his inevitable lay off from working at a dot com during the internet boom, he packed his bags and traveled a second time around the world, this time in a grand sixteen-month continuous journey (October 2003-March 2005) covering over 95,000 miles across thirty-seven countries in South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Ironically, during the entire journey, his bags were only lost in transit once, on the flight from Canada back home to the U.S.A.

Erik R. Trinidad currently makes his base camp in New York City.
